Shall We Dance? (Widescreen Edition) Specifications

Something got lost in translation from 1996's critically acclaimed Japanese comedy, but the American remake of Shall We Dance? is not without charms of its own. In being transplanted from Tokyo to Chicago, the original version's subtle humor is shaken out of its cultural context, but this is an otherwise faithful adaptation in which a weary lawyer (Richard Gere) battles his mid-life crisis with ballroom dancing lessons, while his wife (Susan Sarandon) hires a private detective to see if he's cheating. Those expecting a Jennifer Lopez showcase will be disappointed; her role as the melancholy dance instructor keeps the beautifully lovelorn J-Lo on the sidelines, while a cast of standard-issue supporting characters (especially Stanley Tucci's clandestine faux-Latin dance lover) provide a generous dose of Hollywood-ized comic relief. All of this gives Shall We Dance? a polished sheen of mainstream entertainment that many viewers---and especially ballroom dancers--will find delightfully irresistible. --Jeff Shannon

Camisole

These are similar to tank leotards but have thinner shoulder straps which allow for more intricate designs such as double strap, criss-cross back, lattice back or rib back. The Roch Valley Helene is a typical example of a Camisole Leotard

Cap Sleeve

This style of leotard has short sleeves and can have any variations on institute such as an open back, ruche or polo neck. The Dance Gear Tammy Leotard is a good example of a Cap Sleeve Leotard

Long Sleeve

As the title suggests, leotards of this nature have full distance sleeves. Similar to the cap sleeve variety, the long sleeve leotard can have any variations on institute such as an open back, ruche or polo neck.

Frilled or Skirted

Any of the above leotards may be frilled or skirted. The frill or skirt is ordinarily attached to the leotard near the waist of the dancer. However, sometimes the skirt can generate from higher up the leotard such as on the Lyrical Dress where the skirt originates from just under the bust line. The Ruche Lyrical Dress is an example of a highly beloved Skirted Leotard.
